BookNet Canada and the Book Industry Study Group (BISG) have partnered to field a new and expanded version of the AI use across the North American book industry survey 2026, which is now open for participation from American and Canadian book industry professionals. Your responses will help us capture the big picture, as well as the key concerns and opportunities for your sector.
All answers are anonymous, and the results will be shared in the free study to be released later this year. This survey is for both organizational employees and independent/freelance workers in the American and Canadian book industry.
Who should take this survey?
Anyone, regardless of whether they use AI or not, who works in the book supply chain in the US or Canada, including publishers, literary agents, manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, library staff, service providers, industry organization/association employees, or freelancers.
Why should you take this survey?
In today’s technological landscape, most professionals in the book supply chain are directly or indirectly impacted by AI. Your experiences and perspectives are important to us and will help inform how the industry moves forward.
What is the goal of collecting this data?
The data from this survey will help:
give employees and creators data-backed insights to advocate for the creation of policies and processes that protect their work and livelihood;
empower people in leadership roles with information to aid with decision-making;
highlight common concerns and opportunities by sector;
understand where friction is taking place;
discover opportunities for training and education; and
provide a data-driven, comprehensive overview of how the industry is approaching AI.
Thank you for completing this survey! We're very grateful for your time. Please help us share this survey with your network to ensure as many different perspectives as possible are included.
