Welcome Lily!

Lily and her dog, Mark.

Hello! My name is Lily and I’m the new Product Coordinator here at BookNet Canada. I’m very excited to be here and provide support for all things related to SalesData and LibraryData!

I grew up in New York and New Jersey (a Jersey girl at heart), lived in both Nova Scotia and Montreal for university, and have been residing in Toronto since 2016. My interest in the book industry, metadata management, and databases all began while working towards my Master of Information Studies at McGill University. After receiving my Master’s, I worked at Rakuten Kobo for six years on the Audiobook Content Management team supporting publishers and authors and building the audiobook catalogue.

I of course love to read and the current books on my night table are Quartet by Jean Rhys, The Best of Everything by Rona Jaffe, and The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. Outside of fiction, I love food memoirs and travel writing. My favourite writers are Stephanie Danler, Lauren Elkin, Jhumpa Lahiri, and MFK Fisher. Print books will always be my first love and I may or may not be found obsessively checking my library holds five times a day.

Outside of reading, I love to plan and cook dinner. I’m actively working on my cookbook collection, which currently only sits at 32 but ideally would be more than 100! For now my favourites are Molly Stevens’s All About Braising and Diana Henry’s How to Eat a Peach. Since I’m always trying new recipes I rarely cook the same thing twice. I’m happy to admit that my idea of the perfect Friday night is a giant bowl of pasta and The Real Housewives. On the weekends, I like to put on my sneakers and go, whether it’s for a long walk through Toronto or a bike ride to Toronto Island. Whenever I can, I try to visit my family in Newfoundland and Maine. I’ll take any excuse to be closer to the ocean!
