Hello everyone! I’m Aline, the new Marketing and Event Assistant at BookNet Canada. In the coming months, you’ll see my name sprinkled among the blog posts and Tech Forum 2021 — keep your eyes peeled!
I’m a graduate of the Master of Information and Master of Museum Studies programs at the University of Toronto, along with my colleague Hannah. Before arriving at BookNet, I worked with archive, library, and fine art collections for Art Museum (U of T), the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, and more. I also worked as an audience researcher for galleries and cultural heritage institutions studying visitor’s experiences with museum exhibitions and programs. I’m excited to learn more about the book industry and to get to know all of you as a member of the BookNet Marketing team.
Like so many of my coworkers, I’m an avid reader. Lately, when I’m not drooling over Ottolenghi’s newest Flavour, I’m rotating between Wayson Choy’s The Jade Peony, Nelly Arcan’s Burqa de chair, and Dune by Frank Herbert. I have a passion for collecting books with cats as main characters — everything from E.T.A. Hoffman’s The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr to Haruki Murakami’s Kafka on the Shore. If you know any cat books, don’t be a stranger and please send your recommendations my way!
These days, I’m spending my time trying out new recipes, walking around my neighbourhood, practicing yoga from home, and caring for my plants — my new Baby Yoda Chia Pet an obvious highlight. In other times, you can find me appropriately socially distanced on a patio, hiking the escarpment, patrolling the beaches of Toronto Island, tucked away in an art gallery, or snooping around a bookstore!
