We Read Too: Opportunities for diversity in publishing

Do you have 20 minutes out of your day to learn about how publishing can create more diverse opportunities? At Tech Forum 2016, Kaya Thomas, creator of the IOS App We Read Too, an app that showcases hundreds of children's and young adult fiction books written by and for people of colour, was kind enough to speak to those in attendance about the opportunities and challenges that face not only authors of colour, but readers hungry for their stories with regards to discoverability, availability, and learning materials.

Kaya shares how We Read Too is an invaluable tool to readers, educators, and library staff looking to discover more books by and about people of colour, her calls to action for more inclusivity in the publishing world and changes publishers can make to hiring practice and publishing efforts, and how to reach out and include communities of people with under-represented backgrounds.

Kaya's talk is not to be missed, and full of inspiration for every level of the supply chain to think about how Canadian publishing approaches diverse voices.
