Equinox and BookNet Canada announce integration with Evergreen ILS

Toronto, ON – June 4, 2018

As part of their ongoing support of public libraries, Equinox and BookNet Canada are pleased to announce their collaboration in generating an export script for libraries using Evergreen ILS. This new feature provides simple access to collections management features from BookNet Canada to libraries utilizing Evergreen.

"We are pleased to help Evergreen libraries in Canada have access to more collections analytics services,” said Galen Charlton, Infrastructure Manager at Equinox. “We are particularly pleased by how BookNet Canada's service does not require the use of personal information from library patrons."

Equinox Open Library Initiative is a nonprofit founded in 2007 by the original developers and designers of the Evergreen ILS, one of the first open source integrated library systems available. They currently help libraries and consortia of all types leverage Evergreen and collaborations with the open source community to best serve their patrons. The addition of the export script provides Evergreen libraries in Canada with additional data to manage their collections.

"We're excited to work with Equinox, Evergreen ILS, and library systems across Canada on this integration," said Noah Genner, President and CEO of BookNet Canada. "This is an important step towards having a nation-wide, collaborative system for the sharing of aggregated circulation data. Like our national sales tracking service, BNC SalesData, we are confident this project will benefit libraries and the book industry as a whole with greater insights and actionable analytics."

BookNet Canada is a non-profit organization founded in 2002 that develops technology, standards, and education to serve the Canadian book industry. They support libraries across the country with bibliographic data, research studies, digital catalogue solutions, and, most recently, collecting and aggregating circulation data for use by libraries and the industry as a whole.

The development of the export script was done in partnership with Lincoln Public Library of Ontario, Canada, a part of the Libraries in Niagara Cooperative (LiNC) an Evergreen consortium founded in 2010.

Interested libraries using Evergreen ILS should inquire with BookNet Canada to learn more about the integration at librarydata@booknetcanada.ca or sign up to contribute their data at booknetcanada.ca/library-data.
