Bestselling Canadian books of 2025

In our ongoing 2025 wrap-up, where we’ve shared the overall bestselling and most circulated titles of the year, we’re now getting to the Canadian books. For our purposes, that’s books with at least one Canadian contributor. A Canadian Contributor is an author, illustrator, translator, or editor (in the case of an edited collection of material) who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.

The following lists are based on print sales volume in Canada from December 30, 2024 to December 28, 2025, according to SalesData, BookNet’s national sales tracking service for the Canadian English-language, print, trade book market.

Here are the top-selling Canadian titles in the Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Juvenile and Young Adult categories last year.

New year, different titles: There were three authors on this list that appeared on last year’s list with different titles. Louise Penny’s The Black Wolf replaced last year’s The Grey Wolf, Carley Fortune had two titles on last year’s list, This Summer Will Be Different and Meet Me at the Lake, and though Brynne Weaver’s Butcher & Blackbird appeared on both last year’s and this year’s lists, her newest title, Scythe & Sparrow also graced this year’s list.

The majority of this year’s list was frontlist (60%) and half of the list are Romance novels.

Though last year there was significant overlap between the 2024 list and the one in 2023, this year there is no overlap with last year’s top Non-Fiction books. That’s in large part because 90% of this year’s list were books published in 2025. Only Mark Carney’s Values was published before 2025.

Last year we reported that Love You Forever had moved out of the top spot for the first time since 2018. Well in 2025, it was back in first place. In addition to the two editions of Love you Forever on the list, there were three other Robert Munsch titles in the top 10 this year. His books make up half of the top ten list in 2025.
