About BookNet Canada

Described by the Globe and Mail as "the book industry's supply chain nerve centre," BookNet Canada is the not-for-profit agency responsible for driving technology innovation for Canadian publishers, distributors and booksellers great and small.

BookNet Canada focuses on Bibliographic Data, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Sales Data Analysis, international standards and the sourcing of other technologies and services to enhance supply chain efficiencies. In other words, we spend our days finding ways to make it easier to buy books, sell books, keep books in print, reach new audiences and ride the ever-cresting wave of new technology.

How? BookNet runs B2B trading services, sets technology standards, performs market research and manages BNC SalesData, the national book sales reporting and analysis service, tracking 75% of all Canadian book sales. We run brain-expanding events and conferences. We answer questions, calm the concerned and inspire the innovative.

BookNet Canada's stakeholders are found throughout the book publishing industry, ranging from independent, educational and chain retailers, industry associations, wholesalers and distributors.

Guided by a Board of Directors which provides broad representation through the industry, with support from the Department of Canadian Heritage, BookNet Canada is well-positioned to have direct and positive impact. BookNet Canada acknowledges the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Canadian Book Fund (CBF) for this project.
